GRACE HOMES TAKES TO THE SKIES TO SUPPORT CRANSLEY HOSPICE

Three Grace Homes team members are swapping the comfort of bricks and mortar for a parachute, as they take to the skies to raise funds for Cransley Hospice.

On 10th September Site Manager Adam Grey, Customer Care Co-Ordinator Jenny Welbourn, and Contracts Manager Paul Mott will be taking part in a skydive where they will reach the heady heights of 13,000 feet, before plummeting back to reality at speeds of up to 150 miles per hour.

The skydive is in aid of the Cransley Hospice Trust, Grace Homes’ chosen charity for 2022-23, a charity that provides care for patients with a life-limiting illness who need the specialist help of a hospice. Community Fundraiser for Cransley, Ash Davies said: “We are delighted that the Grace Homes team have chosen to support Cransley Hospice Trust with their action-packed plan of fundraising. We would like to extend a huge Cransley ‘thank you’ to everyone that has donated so generously and particular thanks to Jenny, Adam and Paul, who will be having the thrill of skydiving at 13,000ft for us this Saturday!”

WHO ARE TEAM SKYDIVE?

Team member Jenny signed up to ‘Team Skydive’ following a presentation to Grace Homes by this local charity, “I had no intentions of doing a skydive, but when Louise explained all that Cransley Hospice does, it brought home how lucky we are to have our health. After that, I had to get involved.”

Site Manager, Adam Grey cannot wait to take his leap of faith. He has also personal experience of the support hospices provide: “My uncle had end-of-life care in a hospice in Milton Keynes so I understand and appreciate the sterling work these organisations undertake.”

Paul Mott has always wanted to jump out of a plane but has never managed to find the time to make it happen, “Knowing the support Cransley offers to those approaching the end of their life as well as their family members makes doing the skydive even more important to me. It feels good to know that I can be a part of helping with their work.”

If you are able to offer support by donating to our JustGiving page it would be greatly appreciated. To put your donation into context:

  • £25 will fund a home visit by a Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • £10 will fund 30 minutes of vital one-to-one nursing support
  • £5 will provide funds for a relaxing hand massage

Grace Homes’ Managing Director, Henry Barney said: “It takes an enormous amount of courage to do a skydive, and we are extremely grateful to the team for putting their fears to one side so they can raise funds for the Cransley Hospice Trust. If you are able to support our team in this challenge it would be greatly appreciated by both Grace Homes and Cransley.”

Many thanks in advance for your support.

Cransley Hospice Trust raises money to support Hospice and end of life care for North Northamptonshire. We raise money so that patients, families and carers can be supported when someone has a life limiting illness and needs expert help. Our care takes in all aspects of the person including physical and mental health, spiritual and social care and is provided at the 9-bed ‘Cransley Hospice’ in Kettering or through the Hospice at Home service. Over the next few years, we have an ambition to grow our annual fundraising from £1.4 million to £2 million a year - the generosity of our brilliant local business supporters like Grace Homes plays a vital role in helping us to achieve this.
