What is the Consumer Code?

The Consumer Code for Home Builders (“the Code”) was developed by the home-building industry to make the home buying process fairer and more transparent for purchasers. It gives protection and rights to anybody who buys a new home, ensuring they are treated fairly, and are fully informed about their purchase before and after they sign the contract.

The aim of the code is:

  • To make sure you know what levels of service to expect
  • To provide you with reliable information so that you make informed decisions
  • To let you know how you can access speedy, low-cost dispute resolution arrangements if you are dissatisfied
