Mr & Mrs Gainford Find Their 'Forever Home' in Lubenham

Mr and Mrs Gainford and their two daughters are the first family to move onto the Welland Fields development in Lubenham. Originally from Stockport and Liverpool, they have lived in many different places over the years, but now they believe they have found their forever home. We caught up with them a few weeks after they moved in, and here's what they had to tell us:

Why did you decide to move home?

We weren’t actually looking to move house, but we’d got a quote for some home improvements and my husband said we could move house for the same price. That’s what started the ball rolling!

We liked Market Harborough, so we viewed the new homes for sale around the town. We looked at all of them, but none were quite right. I just didn’t ‘feel it’ with any of them. That evening I took another look online and found Welland fields in Lubenham. It was exactly what we were looking for. In fact, I actually woke my husband up and said: “Oh my goodness I’ve found us the perfect place to live.”

We visited the development the next day, and as soon as we drove past it just felt right. I knew it was for us, even before we entered the sales office. The houses are thoughtfully laid out. They aren’t too close together – there is a lot of space around them.

Friends of ours have bought from Grace Homes and live at White Lodge Farm in Burton Latimer, so we already knew a lot about the builder. Our friends love their home, especially the high specification and how they could just move straight in as nothing needs doing.

How was the buying process?

The Sales Advisor, Sue, gave us a ring every week or so to update us. She was really nice and not at all pushy. She kept on top of everything, and our purchase went through smoothly.  We rented somewhere for 6 weeks and it all worked out perfectly. It was meant to be.

What about moving day?

It was so nice to move in, and the house smelt gorgeous! If we needed any help with anything the Site Manager was there, which we really appreciated. Nothing was too much trouble whatsoever. And the welcome pack, oh my goodness it was just amazing! We had tea, coffee, biscuits and a bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge. It was the perfect house move.

What do you think of Lubenham?

Lubenham is a great village, and everyone we’ve met so far has been so friendly. The number of people that have come up to us and welcomed us to the village, it’s so lovely. My daughter has got a job at the village pub, and when we’ve visited we’ve been made to feel very welcome.

The location is also brilliant. It’s very well-connected. It is so easy to get into London by train from Market Harborough, and I can be back in Wellingborough (where we moved from) in 30 minutes. There is very little traffic, and we are surrounded by gorgeous country roads. Everywhere we go to in the car is so lovely to drive to.

How are you finding your new home?

Everything is thought out so well. It ticks every box. The amount of space in the kitchen, the cupboard space, the utility is a great size, everything is just perfect. I got the fireplace I wanted, I’ve also got doors onto the garden from both the lounge and the kitchen. I wasn’t expecting the garden to be quite as big as it is, so that’s lovely. There’s also a lovely patio. The drive is huge - there is just so much room. I love it!

The whole house is so light too. The number of times I’ve asked my daughter to turn off her bedroom light in the morning when we are going out, only to find that it wasn’t on at all! The house has so much natural light.

Sometimes you can move into a new home and it doesn’t turn out to be everything that you expected, but this has just exceeded all of our expectations since we’ve moved in. We’ve never felt this before about a home, but we want to stay here forever.
