We’re pleased to say that on Saturday 15th June, Emily and Jenny both completed their mammoth abseil challenge of abseiling the National Lift Tower (the world's tallest abseil platform!), raising £1,203.90! We did also mention we had some good news…carry on reading to find out what it is!
STORMY
Because of the high winds and bad weather, the pair had to undertake their abseils inside the tower (equivalent height to outside the tower). This presented its own challenge as it was quite dark inside, with limited space, and the abseil in some parts required swinging into position and in other parts abseiling through narrow holes in some of the floors! At the end of the challenge, there was also the option to do another short abseil – face first! Emily did not hesitate to take on the challenge of doing a Mission Impossible style abseil and enjoyed her chance of mimicking Tom Cruise.
JENNY’S THOUGHTS
“Emily was an absolute super-star, she looked totally fearless the entire time! I, on the other hand, am terrified of heights so was shaking like a leaf the entire time! We tackled it in different ways but I’m so proud of us both for doing the abseil, it was a really tough challenge!”
EMILY’S THOUGHTS
“Wow! What a day! Nothing could prepare me for the abseil(s)! Hanging on the edge by your toes before leaving the floor or leaning into the harness as I decided to try the forward facing one. I absolutely loved it and would definitely do it again!”
THE ICING ON THE CAKE
In our last post we told you we had some good news to share with you. We are thrilled to say that not only did we raise a fantastic £1,203 from the abseil but the money raised from the abseil has tipped us over our £15k fundraising target! As of today, we have raised a staggering £15,080 for Cransley Hospice (not including £1,511 Gift Aid)! We are over the moon to have raised this much money and will do another post shortly explaining what we’ve done to raise it. But for now, a big ‘thank you’ to all who’ve sponsored and huge congratulations to Emily and Jenny for their abseil!
