Grace Homes Offers Support to Adam'Smile Through its Local Foundations Initiative

The latest donation from the Grace Homes' Local Foundations initiative has been awarded to the Lubenham charity Adam'Smile. The Adam Mugridge Memorial Fund was set up following Adam's tragic accident as he cycled from Lubenham to his school in Market Harborough.

The £500 donation will go towards the charity's long-term project of creating a safe walking and cycling route away from traffic. A major hurdle was crossed in September 2018 when Leicestershire County Council recognised the proposed mile-long route, from Old Hall Road, Lubenham, to Farndale View, Market Harborough, as a public right of way. Work can now start on planning the route, and Adam’s legacy is much closer to becoming a reality.

Managing Director, Henry Barney, commented: “We first heard of the Adam'Smile charity when pupils of All Saints Primary School were invited up to Welland Fields to bury a time capsule. When an application to access the support offered by our Local Foundations initiative was subsequently made by the Mugridge family, we were pleased to be able to offer our support. Aside from our donation, we will do what we can to raise awareness of the Adam'Smile charity and we hope that construction of the cycle lane can start in the near future.”

The Local Foundations initaitive was created to help local communities by providing a grant of up to £500 at regular intervals throughout the year. We are currently building new homes at White Lodge Farm in Burton Latimer and Welland Fields in Lubenham, and the fund is open to any school, charity or sports club based in either location.

You can read more about Adam'Smile, find out about the latest fundraising efforts, and make a donation by visiting the charity's website or Facebook page.
