Brambles, a new ‘Resource Provision’ for vulnerable children within the Paddox Primary School in Hillmorton, was left with just a shell of a building after the budget was eaten up by problems faced during its construction. The facility, created in 2020 was intended to provide a calm and relaxing environment for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues particularly trauma from early childhood experiences. With little funds to kit out rooms like the much needed Sensory spaces the school were at a loss as what to do.
In a bid to raise the necessary funds to kit out this important space, Assistant Head Teacher, Deborah Texeira had noticed housebuilder Grace Homes was building in the area and contacted them to see if they could help. Fortunately, not only was Grace Homes happy to contribute through their Local Foundations initiative, but their rallying call to several of their suppliers meant Brambles’ entire wish-list could be fulfilled by their donation.
Deborah Texeira said: “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of both Grace Homes and its suppliers. The Sensory Room is now a calm and inviting space and is filled with soothing equipment such as interactive bubble tubes, rocking bowls and weighted blankets.”
Henry Barney, Managing Director at Grace Homes, commented: “We always strive to give back to the community in the areas where we are building new homes through our Local Foundations initiative. It is wonderful that Grace Homes and several of our suppliers have had the opportunity to make a tangible difference to such an important resource as Brambles. Special thanks to Bell of Northampton, Maypine, Shepherd Decorating Ltd, Hevey, T M Construction, and Rawington for their support and generosity.”
