A Review of 2022 and Plans for 2023

The start of a new year is a great time to both reflect on the last 12 months and look forward to the coming year. Here’s an overview of what we’ve been up to and where we are heading.

We work incredibly hard to build homes of exceptional quality, so we were delighted to be recognised by our industry peers for two separate awards in 2022. Firstly, we were crowned ‘Best Medium Volume New Housing Development in the West Midlands’ at the LABC Building Excellence Awards for our Ashlawn Meadows development in Rugby. This follows similar successes in 2021 and 2020 with Langdale in Thorpe Langton and The Orchard in Swinford.

We’ve also been shortlisted in the "UK medium-sized housebuilder of the year" category at the NFB’s Construction Awards of Excellence ‘23. These independent awards honour the exceptional contributions of companies and individuals in the construction and building sector across Great Britain. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the final in April.

Looking forward, we have plenty of news about our up-and-coming projects.

Last week marked the sale of the final home at Walnut View in Hallaton. The development is already looking well-established within this beautiful village, and the feedback from our customers has been heartening. One homeowner told us: “It is so unusual to have a small development that is so characterful but still modern. We are thrilled with it.”

The sale of the first home at The Oval in Nether Broughton completed at the end of ‘22, enabling our customers to enjoy Christmas in their new home. Half of the properties at this rural development have already been reserved or sold, which we believe is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team.

Sysonby Lodge in Melton Mowbray is a prestigious development of 30 homes, set in historic parkland. Part conversion, part new build, this development includes the careful restoration of a grade 2 listed hunting lodge, previously frequented by Winston Churchill. Work on the lodge is in full swing, with plans to open the sales office in late Spring.

Other developments where we have started work include two beautiful Northamptonshire villages: Chestnut Edge in Stoke Albany and Windmill Meadow in Brigstock. We’ll share further information about the 53 new homes we’re building over these two locations later this year.

Across the business, we have raised a grand total of £9,450 in 2022 for the Alzheimer’s Society and Cransley Hospice. We’ve also forged stronger links within the locations where we are building. Through our Local Foundations initiative, we’ve transformed Hallaton school’s outdoor space and provided scythes and training to a wildlife group in Nether Broughton.

Finally, in recognition of our desire to actively become a more sustainable organisation, we have partnered with Positive Planet, a well-respected organisation that specialises in providing net zero and carbon-neutral advice and guidance. This collaboration will not only help us to become a more sustainable organisation but will also help our team gain valuable knowledge regarding carbon reduction.

Wishing you every success in the coming year.
