We usually specify all-timber glazing in our new homes, but in two of our recent developments at Mackworth Drive in Finedon and The Fieldings in Brigstock, we wanted to create homes with a more modern look. To achieve this we specified VELFAC composite frames. The resulting homes are impressive, with large openings that allow the light to flood in. Despite the volume of glazing, the VELFAC system has ensured the thermal efficiency of each home has not been compromised. The versatility of the VELFAC products also gave us flexibility in the finish. At both developments, we specified grey aluminium exterior frames that would contrast to local stonework, whilst creating a point of difference. Internally, we specified white painted timber for a neutral finish that would easily blend in with a customer’s own colour scheme.
Both developments received a superb response when they went on the market, with each being separately named as a finalist in the Best Small New Housing Development in the 2018 LABC Building Excellence Awards.
