Developing Hand in Hand with the Environment

One of the first things you notice as you approach our Old School Avenue development in Oundle is the impressive tree lined marking the 100 metre-long private drive. This avenue was one of the many reasons that we were initially drawn to this site, and because they are protected with a Tree Preservation Order we knew we would have to work really hard to ensure that they were protected both during the development phase and also after the building work has been completed.

Seeking advice from arboriculture consultants, Lockhart Garratt, and consultant engineers, Walker Associates, we were able to find a way to protect the tree roots whilst we created a stable road for vehicles to access the development. By using a special honeycombed structure called Cellweb (manufactured by Geosynthetics) we were able to build a road using a no-dig solution, avoiding any disruption to the tree roots. Finished with porous black paving to allow plenty of water to soak down to the roots

The result is our customers have a brand new, hard wearing road that is also sensitive to its surroundings.
