Local Area

Steeped in history, Swinford is one of Leicestershire’s hidden gems. A thriving local community, panoramic valley views, and good transport links combine to make this picturesque village the ideal place to live.

The Orchard enjoys a tranquil spot at the edge of the village of Swinford. Lying just over three miles South of Lutterworth, Swinford has an historic parish church, a highly regarded pub, and a thriving primary school. Clubs and societies in the village include a well-attended WI and an amateur dramatics society. For sports enthusiasts, there are local football and cricket teams, and the well-tended greens of Kilworth Springs Golf Club are less than four miles away. Kilworth House Open Air Theatre hosts performances throughout the year, and Stanford Hall holds regular events from vintage car rallies to the annual firework championships. Nearby Lutterworth has an excellent range of independent shops, supermarkets, and restaurants, and Elliott’s Field in Rugby houses many of the big retailers.

Local schools are excellent, with a well-regarded primary school (OFSTED rated ‘Good’) in the village and two sought-after secondaries, Lutterworth High School (‘Outstanding’) and Lutterworth College (‘Good’), less than four miles away. Independent schools include Rugby School (6.5 miles), Leicester Grammar (16.5 miles), and Uppingham and Oakham Schools, (both around 30 miles away).

Despite its rural location, Swinford has excellent commuter-links with easy access to junction 20 of the M1, junction 1 of the M6, and the A14. A short drive to Rugby station gives access to the high-speed train that reaches London
Euston in only 50 minutes.
